I remember the footsteps of those who erected me.
I remember when they first came.
I remember their yelling and screams echoing through my corridors.
And I remember when they left.
They built me to protect,
But who protects me now as my walls are crumbling down and my inner core is rotting?
I stood for freedom, strength and security,
But now that the salty sea breeze is tearing me apart,
there is nothing left but the artificial structures they built in my memory.
I was left, but never forgotten.
FULL VIEW HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Image is taken inside the "Fort Cautley", a NZ Navy military base built in the 1870s and reconstructed in the 1930s.
Reminds me of the beautiful, but now crumbling derelict military installations along the US seaboard, particularly at Sandy Hook, NJ. Only one building is left open to the public, called Battery Potter. I took a tour there once when I was a teen. [link]
a single splash of an electric colour always draws me into a b/w framing. almost an emotive piece as you can sense a telling of a long ago tale by the whethered greying wood and rust spilled hinges. good source, good lines, good composition all the way around.
I'm glad you like it as much as I do
